Ian Godfrey started in estate agency way back in 1977, working for Bairstow Eves in Barnet, selling starter homes for the princely sum of £15,000 and upwards. A luxury family home cost about £30,000 at the time!
Later he worked for Potters selling much more luxurious homes in Totteridge and Mill Hill. He went into business opening Real Estates in Edgware and finally joined Druce & Co in Central London in 1983, where he progressed and joined their board of management as a director, until finally venturing out on his own together with Jonathan Barr, forming Godfrey & Barr in 1991 in Hampstead Garden Suburb and later Mill Hill.
The rest as they say 'is history'! Over 30 years of selling prestige homes in Hampstead Garden Suburb, Mill Hill and surrounds, Ian is one of the most experienced (and indeed now one of the oldest) estate agents around! Working through more than one recession, interest rates topping 15% and the general 'pitts and troughs' of the property market including a covid pandemic, Ian has seen it all!
He is married, with children and grandchildren, lives in the countryside and likes to take it easy these days, but only when he's not working! He has absolutely no interest in football whatsoever! He loves golf, photography, anything Apple, adores eating out, travelling and his gorgeous grandchildren, with whom he spends as much free time as possible.

An opportunity arose and so he then decided to follow his heart into working in the sports promotion industry, specialising in promoting women’s professional tennis. For a brief time he also represented the Women’s Tennis Association in Europe on tour.
In 1984, Jonathan returned again to residential estate agency and joined London firm of Druce and Co, which is where he met and started working with Ian Godfrey.
In 1990, Jonathan and Ian thought it was time to set up their own estate agency as they had such an excellent and successful working relationship. They formed a partnership, Godfrey and Barr was subsequently established. They have been trading for over 30 years now.
Away from working Jonathan has always been an avid sports person, from playing tennis to squash and in 2010 he started his running career/hobby running his 1st London Marathon with his then 18 year old son.
Jonathan has run 33 Marathons to date, whilst raising ( with the assistance of his family) close to £200,000 for various charities.

Jonathan is also an avid supporter and season ticket holder of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, whilst he also enjoys the great outdoors, Kenwood being one of his all time favourite places to regularly visit.

He can juggle, ride a unicycle, play the guitar and is an origami expert ! You may see him on the heath extension with his two crazy dogs, which is where he likes to de-stress and chill out.
He loves an adventure with his family and can found off-the-grid doing crazy things in crazy places, whether trekking through mountains, volcanoes, rainforests, seeing Orangutangs in the jungle, or most recently throwing himself out of an airplane on a skydive.
